FAQs

What is counselling/psychotherapy?

Counselling and psychotherapy provide a safe, confidential space to explore personal challenges, thoughts, and emotions. Together, we work to understand your experiences, develop self-acceptance, and gain insight that can improve your physical, emotional, and relational well-being.

What is an anti-oppressive scope in counselling work?

An anti-oppressive scope in counselling refers to an approach that actively acknowledges and addresses the ways systems of power, privilege, and oppression impact clients’ lives and well-being. It recognises that factors such as race, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, and cultural background can intersect to create unique differences for individual.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes, I offer secure online counselling sessions via video calls, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home. This can be especially helpful if you have a busy schedule or live in a remote area.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

It is not essential to have a GP referral. Generally, a referral is required for a Medicare rebate. At this stage I am unable to provide a Medicare rebate as I am a psychotherapist. You are welcome to self-refer via the contact form.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, everything we discuss is confidential. The only exceptions are if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if legally required. We’ll go over confidentiality in detail during your first session.

Do you work with children, adolescents, couples and families, as well as individuals?

I work with adults over 18. Individuals and couples.

What is the cost and length of each session?

Please contact me to find out more about the fees and length of sessions offered.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

Feeling nervous is completely normal. Starting therapy is a big step, and it’s okay to take time to adjust. I aim to create a welcoming, supportive space where you can feel at ease as we work together.

What is your cancellation policy?

I understand that life happens, so if you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice via the contact form. Cancellations less than 48 hours’ notice will incur a fee.
